The Arts-A-F!RE Youth Theater Troupe is a youth development program which uses professional performing arts training and the creation of first-rate theatrical and musical art to help young people succeed on stage and in life.
Arts-A-F!RE Youth Theater Troupe seeks to fill the gaps in arts education in Memphis area schools by providing an artistic home for young actors, singers, dancers and stage technicians. Since it’s founding in 2009 and modeling after the Mosaic Youth Theater of Detroit, the Arts-A-F!RE Youth Theater Troupe has launched two productions of “The ME Nobody Knows.” The award-winning Broadway musical provided an opportunity for thirty-one (31) young artists, ages 7 – 17 to participate in a professional theatrical production. The goal is to serve at least 50 youth per year.
The Troupe will produce at least three plays per year and will seek to bring recognition to Memphis as a center for arts and culture and promote a positive image of Memphis area youth.
Troupe members are required to participate in training, Saturdays 2 – 4 pm, attend rehearsals and/or meetings, and parents/family members are required to support the troupe by volunteering, selling tickets and soliciting sponsors/ads for performances.
Auditions are scheduled throughout the year. Please contact the MBAA Office 901-948-9522 to request an audition. |
